Pastured
This year I have been focused on “pasture”, on Brown Dog Farm, with our flock, and studying other farms and ranches doing the same. For this year’s fall release I am offering a series of small paintings of landscapes created by the work of ranchers and farmers who graze animals on pasture. By managing their land thoughtfully, the grazing of animals on pasture benefits soil microbiology, improves the water cycle and the soil’s absorption and holding capacity, and draws down carbon. Another benefit is that these landscapes are visually beautiful. Each painting is 8 x 10 either vertical or horizontal, and framed and ready to hang. Farms are noted in the titles.
This is our second year offering a wool product for our fiber flock. Everything is processed here, under 1 roof, wool grown, cleaned, dyed, spun and knit. We have 2 colors of our hats this year, Bark and Marsh. They are a blend of our Angora goats’ mohair and our Shetland Sheep’s wool. I call them ‘fancy rag wool”. They are simple fisherman’s caps. Perfect for our Wisconsin winters, soft and cozy and made for a lifetime of wear.
