Well—before any of that happens, they begin quietly.
Just me, a pencil, and a sheet of paper.

These little sketches are my first investigations—whispers of the paintings to come.
They’re how I learn the terrain, map out the story, find my way into the work.

Sometimes they grow into the big paintings you see later.
